Renew North Country
RENEW is 10 years old! RENEW North Country is a part of our history.
On May 4,2006 we got our first participant, and thus we were off.
That participant is now a college graduate, graduated from West High School WITH Honors and plays on the Women's football league's pro sports circuit.
She, along with 467 other young people have all had their lives touched by RENEW. RENEW has an 87% employment rate. That means our kids hold jobs! We have a 98% graduation rate or equivalent rate. Our kids are smart! 12 young people have entered college in the last 6 years. One participant has run for congress. One is in a Master's of Education program. Two students married each other this year, and Gail Cormier, one of the original staff members, got to be the witness. These students had a beautiful baby this fall. Gail got to be part of that too. There is so much more!! It's great knowing we have been an important part of a child's life.
By the way there have been 19 RENEW staff members involved in all this since 1996. The past and present staff members get the experience of helping a youth figure out their path to a better future. RENEWs staff are all trained in person-centered planning, wrap around and intensive case management skills.
Renew North Country is a drug and alcohol prevention program
The goal of this program is to prevent juvenile delinquency through comprehensive, positive approaches which consider the influences of family, peers, schools and the community on a youth's development so as to reduce and prevent the human and financial losses resulting from juvenile crime.
Funding for this program is provided by the US Dept. of Justice, OJJDP through the Division of Children, Youth and Families, & NH Dept. of Health and Human Services. |
